The Players in EPC for the most part are very good players as we all know. Therefore it is much more difficult to obtain players stacks w/o many hands being played. The blinds seem to increase so rapidly that it becomes a game of luck instead of that of skill. the other day the tournament was down to 50 players w/ avg stack at 4k yet blinds at 1k so then begins the sequence of all ins and may the luckiest player win.
I suggest slower progression of blinds, yes i know it will increase the time a tournament takes but i also think it will allow good players a chance to get past a string of bad deals, or bad table draws with nothing but sitters. Let's test a players skill not a players luck. Surely im not the only one who feels this way, am I?

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the input. I'm curious what tournament you're talking about with the $4k avg stacks and $1k blinds with 50 players left. It sounds like it might have been the Two For Tuesday tournament, which is the one tourney we have that is a turbo, or close to it. It is set up to run fairly quickly, partly because there is a League Tournament that same night that starts 3 hrs later, and partly just because I wanted to have one fast tournament.
Also, I was messing around with the tournament structures about a week ago, trying to tweak them slightly to keep them around the 4 hr mark because the larger fields had some of them creeping towards 5 hrs, which is a bit much. In doing so I went a little overboard once or twice so a couple League Tournaments ran a bit too fast. This has been corrected.
Let me know what you make of all this, I'm always looking for feedback.
Thanks,
Tony

Also, the blind progressions have been brought up in the past and one thing that is a problem is the Home Games don't give you many options with tournament structure, especially pertaining to blind changes. I've been fortunate enough to have been asked to participate in a forum with the lead designer of the PokerStars Home Games and one of the things we are pushing for is more options with tournament structure. We'll see what happens.

Maybe can u plz start making your tournys 2k, 3k or even deep stacked like 5k starting stacks. More time for SKILLED players to dominate. Nd maybe add like some "high roller" tournys where the buyins are HIGH

I do have plans for a high roller trny.

I have to agree with you Tony. Bigger stacks only make the tourneys last longer and it's frustrating trying to blind out the "sitters" from the tourneys. The skilled players should prevail regardless of the starting stack size. I think the way your tourney's are set up are good.

I also think if you can't spell nanook, you should not use it as your name. Any questions?

So be it. I have been busted by the English Language Police. Send me the fine in the mail with a self addressed and stamped envelope and I will send you a check. Please allow 2-3 years for delivery. Regarding the spelling of Nannook, I am not concerned about it. It was the name of my first dog and not Nanook of the North. If it is a trademark infringement, just follow the instructions above for the apostrophe infraction.

I was playing in the Tuesday tournament yesterday with 15 minutes blinds. The tournament lasted over 5 hours. A bit long for my liking. The Tuesday tournament was set up with the usual 10 minute blinds, no idea why it played at 15 minutes. The day before that both Monday tournaments played with no breaks, even though they were set up to have breaks. And then there was Wednesday, when peoples lobbies wouldn't load.... Apparently there is something screwy going on with the PokerStars game client, hopefully they get it straightened out soon.

Hey folks, FattieQ here. I wanted to blab and talk about how much I enjoy EPC and that kind of thing, but I'll save that for once I need to give a speech. Like winning the WSOP main event, or WPT Jupiter. Something ridiculous and substantial.
As far as blinds go, I've never really noticed the blinds get in my way. When I'm eliminated from EPC tournaments I rarely feel as though luck got in the way. Perhaps that's because I do well at the beginning of tournaments and don't feel the blind raises very much. However my opinion stands as me being a fan of the structures in place. Naturally if you want to change them, I'd be happy to try them out for a while.
Cheers!
